LI News radio - "street smart"!

LI News Radio's Mike Sapraicone interviewed Warrior Ranch's Founder and President Eileen Shanahan and Steve Castleton, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, on his "Street Smart" show.  The conversation ranged from how the Foundation began, to the high rate of suicide among veterans and first responders to how horses help those with PTSD. Mike is a retired NYPD detective, a great host and conversationalist. Mike also owns Squad Security; Global Security Services & Investigations.  Click here for the full interview.
Thank you Mike for your generosity!!!

horse interaction program day

Warrior Ranch welcomed wonderful folks to our Horse Interaction Program. US Navy Veteran, Kenneth Kuck, served in the Korean War. His daughter Laura joined him and they had a great experience with "Cody" and coach, Juliette Hackett. US Army Veteran Jen Baker loves the tranquility and connection she receives at the Ranch. US Marine and retired NCPD Mounted Unit, Tim Galvin really enjoyed being back with horses. Gina Lamb says Tim is a natural :)

Due to Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD),  22 veterans commit suicide every day.

Due to neglect or retirement from race or show careers, there are over 100,000 unwanted horses.

Equine assisted therapy has been proven to reduce symptoms of PTSD.

Through horse interaction, Warrior Ranch provides a safe haven of healing and well being for veterans, first responders and horses.

WELCOME "SULLY"

The Warrior Ranch team is just giddy over the first horse to arrive at the Ranch! "Sully" came from the Standardbred Retirement Foundation. After a few unsuccessful races, "Sully" went to work with the Amish. He later ended up at a kill shelter. Upon arrival there, he had a severe eye infection, to the point it needed to be removed. The good folks at the Standardbred Retirement Foundation took him in. Robbie Siegelman, of Siegelman Stables, reached out and "Sully" is now the first resident at Warrior Ranch. "Sully" will be used for our horsemanship program as well as our new driving program with Robbie Siegelman. Exciting news!!!
