Due to Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD),  22 veterans die by suicide every day.

Due to neglect or retirement from race or show careers, there are over 100,000 unwanted horses.

Equine assisted therapy has been proven to reduce symptoms of PTSD.

Through horse interaction, Warrior Ranch provides a safe haven of healing and well being for veterans, first responders and horses.

the federal savings bank presents at wrf

Many thanks to Alex Caragiannides and Gus Floropoulos of The Federal Savings Bank, along with their support team for presenting the VA Home Loan workshop on March 16 in conjunction with our retreat. The veterans who participated gained some valuable and useful information about the home ownership possibilities this program makes available to them.

Please check out the video their Tied-In Media team created. They certainly captured the sights and sounds of the day :)

SUICIDE TRAINING FOR LOCAL FIRST RESPONDERS

Many thanks to the Times-Review Newspapers and Nick Grasso for the coverage of our two-day ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) course that we held for local first responders, health care workers and others. Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital and the Center for Suicide Prevention of New York sponsored the event. We were honored to host this seminar, offering another tool in helping people who have given up hope find reasons not to die by suicide.

America's most trusted horseman visits WRF!

It was an exciting day at Warrior Ranch as we hosted a visit from John Lyons, America's Most Trusted Horseman. Eileen Shanahan led John and his wife and partner Jody Lyons on a tour of the ranch, where they met our rescue horses Sully and Schmay before John and Eileen sat down for a conversation that will be included in a future episode of Eileen's personal podcast, Talkin' Horses. They discussed John's approach to natural horsemanship, which is the method used at Warrior Ranch when training the rescue horses and coaching the veteran and first responder participants who visit the ranch.
Eileen and equine coach Gina Lamb participated in a workshop that John led at a nearby stable, where they came away inspired by the expert coaching and encouragement they received from John. We are pleased to have made yet another great connection among the most respected natural horsemanship trainers in the country.
Many thanks to John and Jody, and their adorable dog Charlie, for spending time at the ranch with us!

many gathered for a beautiful retreat day!
